Is is bad when your throat is white?

This is a dude from this weekend who was the tallest man I've ever seen in real life (besides shaq...) I thought he looked really slim. No lurpy lbs on this guy. Plus the cowboy boots are hot!

Um, someone please kill me. no really, I'm to the point of considering doctor assisted suicide! I don't think I would make a very good cancer patient. Anyway, went to the doctor and turns out I don't have strep, I'm just a big baby. But, I already knew that. So I've been looking into having this blog be a team blog which means you guys (Camille, Chantelle) can make posts instead of having to put things in comments. What do you think? All I need is your email addresses. Camille you give such good advise I definitely need you to be doing your own posts because sometimes people don't always look at the comments. Come on, we have like 11 people following us through this journey and we need to give them all we got!! Do it for the 11 people... (hi guys!)

I want to die!

I feel like death right now... what else to say!? I have the flu but yet I've still managed to eat like crap. Well, not that bad but I feel gross. Camille, I'm starting to feel like this whole blogging thing is leaving me more frustrated that we don't live next to each other. I really miss you! Without the blogging I just put you out of my head and pretend you never existed, but now I can't do that. Sometimes ignorance is bliss. But, I blog on...

The Pillar Falls!

Okay, so i definitely deviated from the diet this weekend. This was not out of weakness but out of necessity. I was up at this cabin fairly isolated and although I brought food for myself I got to a point where I didn't have enough calories and instead of snacking like crazy I decided to eat an unauthorized meal. What was the meal you ask...PIZZA! and it was good. So, besides that I was able to do pretty good but it is interesting how inconvenient this diet is. But, I can't stay home forever so I had to take one for the team...

I'm recommited people. I kinda think it was a good thing because now I can work back up to something. I think i may return to phase 1! Camille, I am so proud of your little victories. I know what you mean...every one counts!! Chantelle, keep it up. The first part is really hard and it is easy to be hard on yourself and then just throw in the towel. You have to just move on and start with renewed commitment!

A case of the Thursdays...

WELCOME CHANTALLE!!! We (meaning me and Camille) are so glad you have come to join us. Yes you can spell check in blogger but not in your comments =( Trust me... your audience (again...it's just me and Camille out here!) is not known for their spelling abilities so don't sweat it. If it really bugs you, write in word and then cut and paste it into the comment box. I seriusly cant spel so dont wory about it!

dude, one thing about this diet that is hard (besides the no eating anything that taste good...) is that you cook so much your dishes double in size. I've noticed that I have to do 2 loads of dishes a day and it is waring on me. I hate dishes to begin with...who doesn't? Lately I have been totally avoiding them and just leaving them in my sink to rot. Is that bad? I find myself looking at them and then just turning to work on something else or to wrestle with William (our new favorite sport.) Anyway, I got home tonight and laid down to rest and essentially avoid my dishes. My husband came home after working 10 hrs, commuting 2 and reading books to William for 1/2 hour. After my rest I came downstairs to a completely spotless kitchen. Is that not the most romantic thing a husband can do? He is good...really good. Thanks Ben for supporting me on this diet...even though you still have the food intake of a 7 year old...aka all white carbs and red vines diet.

You win some you lose some...

Really dragging "A" as Ben would say. Went to the gym today and I've decided I have to eat some carbs right before I go to lift weights or else I'm just pathetic. So, I slathered up a granola bar with peanut butter and it was so good! I noticed that I had a lot more immediate energy too which you really need when lifting. Anyway, I have lost another 2 lbs for a total of 10 lbs. Feeling good and I don't really want to go any further with the weight loss but wouldn't mind converting some fat into muscle. I guess that is what we are all looking for. Camille, talk to me. What is going on with your food log? Not reporting means something is a miss!!? But, I'm so glad to hear you made a break through with the 5 lbs! That is a big deal. That is like someone on biggest loser losing like 50 lbs in 1 week! You must be being too hard on yourself. You have to be doing something right to have lost 5 lbs. Maybe the concussion jump started your metabolism...hmmmm... in that case... I need to arrange a fall! Did you do that on purpose and throw Luke under the bus just so you could lose some weight? After all, they are just his baby teeth!

I've really been struggling the past few days... not that I've broken any rules... I'm just bored. You realize how much sweets are a cultural/social things when you no longer eat them. Life isn't as much fun when you don't have ice cream and brownies with everyone else. Life isn't as colorful when you're out to eat and you watch everyone else enjoy their cheesecake! But, I trudge forward... never budging... never wavering... I am a machine...

Things keep on truckin'. Everyone keeps asking me when I'm going to go back to "normal"? I guess I kinda have a new normal. I feel like I'm eating what I want, but what I want has changed. I don't feel like I"m losing more weight at this point and I don't really want to so I'm just staying at the same pace. Basically a hybrid phase 1 and phase 2. Here is my food log for the last few days.

New Jeans...

Okay, first things first. Camille has suffered a serious tragedy and is thus been given a day of "eat whatever you want!" Hello, she had a concussion and her baby has snaggle teeth (and no neck!) Camille- NO REGRETS! Just get back on that horse. Also, tell your husband it is not cool to call your 2 year old Toe Mater. Even if his 2 front teeth are lodged into his upper gums. Oh, so sad!

Back to business, here I am. Continuing on the diet and feeling scared to touch carbs in fear I 'll gain 100 lbs! Is that bad? I saw Carrie tonight and she looked fantastic. She has lost 5 lbs in 1 week and hasn't had white flour or sugar in that time! I'm so proud. I went to Costco and bought the new True Religion jeans and I'm happy to say that I feel good. I don't look any different but the clothes just feel good... ya know? So, I guess I"m going to keep going in phase 2 just because I feel better and the energy thing is really appealing! When you get rid of the cravings, you start to forget what you're missing. I'm getting a little disappointed with the comment activity lately. Am I boring you guys or what!?

Weird

Okay, so I've had a weird couple of days. Let's just say I've eaten out a lot and even though I have totally avoided carbs and sweets, I still feel guilty. Not guilty, but I have definitely been eating more than when I'm just hanging out at home. Anyway, it wasn't too bad, but I'm pretty sure I haven't lost any more lurpy lbs but that's okay. I'm to my goal so, beggars can't be choosers. How is everyone? I saw that Camille has come to the site a couple of times, yet there is no comments...hmmmm. That worries me! so proud!

Guys, I'm really proud of us! Not so much about losing weight (which is really awesome...Lisa way to go!) but more so that we are eating so much better! The veggies are doing wonders for my bod and my mind, and my head and my brain too ("school of rock" quote...sorry!) So, as far as not snacking the only thing I have found that works is make sure you are eating big enough meals. You should be satisfied so don't under eat at your meals because then you snack more and snacks usually have more sugar or artificial sugar in them. Also, I've found on the days I'm way busier I just do better. Not like we all aren't so busy. And, dink 8 oz of water when you are feeling snacky and then wait 20 min, see if that will cure the urge?! Okay, so confession time... I went to Cheesecake Factory with my friend Kristina tonight and I got the 6 carb cheesecake sweetened with splenda! It was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO good. I had less than half of it but it was definitely the first real treat I've had since I started. Anyway, if you are looking for a real treat that is still really low in carbs and artificially sweetened... this is a great thing!! Again, I know we shouldn't over rely on the artificial sweetened things... but an occasional during phase 2 is okay. Here is my food log for the day...

Friday-
breakfast-
2 eggs

lunch-
chicken, red/green peppers, turkey meatballs

snack-
1 spoon natural peanut butter

Dinner-
Chopped salad with chicken, tomatoes, apples, bacon, blue cheese with oil and balsamic vinegar (mmmmmmmmmmm)
dessert- 6 carb cheese cake! soooooooooo goooooooooood!!!
DUDES...MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!!

Okay, hear this! I went to the gym yesterday and I have officially lost 8 lbs!!! In 2 and 1/2 weeks that is just right! Anyway, I'm still going. Not to lose more weight necessarily but to feel good. Last night I went out to dinner with good friends Seth and Ashley. The place had the best desserts ever. I ordered this flour less chocolate torte and took one bite. After I tasted how sweet it was I didn't touch it. It was hard, let me tell you! But, I resisted. Anyway, I'm nervous about this weekend because I'm going to Carmel and we always eat like crap at the beach house. I have to be prepared. Surprisingly, I'm not that tempted. I think my system is definitely adjusted to having no sugar. I feel liberated to tell the truth. Anyway, how is everyone doing out there? Camille, no more Splenda... Carrie, how are things in breastfeeding land?... Lisa, keep on truckin'... are you coming to dinner with Kristina and me tonight? Laurel, how's your progress?

Tuesday, May 6, 2008

Yesterday was interesting. It wasn't what I expected. Lets just say I had oatmeal for breakfast and I got a sugar headache at about 11. Isn't that weird? It was like my body is so used to not having any sugar that it was overloaded by something as basic as oatmeal. Anyway, I also had 1/2 apple for a snack and that too hit my bloodstream fast! Anyway, by the end of the day I wished I could just stay in phase 1. How weird. It's like I have no desire for carbs because I feel so good. I think I just need to be more gradual and not have any in the morning. Still, it was nice to have more options. Here is my food log.

Oatmeal

Sunday, May 4, 2008

Guys, we have a new member! Welcome Laurel!!! I totally know who you are. I think we met at the brass bear with Maryanne once. I'm so glad you are joining us especially since people are dropping like flies around here! You and Camille are on the same track so it will be good to bounce things off each other. I'm telling you the most important thing is to keep a food journal. You can do it here or on your own... it's up to you! I'm glad you found us.

Sunday went well, I had to make scones for all our friends and I wanted to eat one really bad! Miraculously, I did not! (applause!!) Tomorrow I can feel the toast approaching my lips!! Here we go phase two. Everyone else is kinda in different stages but Leslee, Lisa W and I are all done with the first 2 weeks... We are celebrating by going to see "Maid of Honor" tomorrow night! I think it is a good idea to reward ourselves for the past two weeks, no matter what your progress. That doesn't mean we should do it with food...but something fun, like a pedicure or a night out with friends. Anyway, here is my Sunday food log... love you guys!

Breakfast-
Milk/caffix splenda (ran out of eggs...duh!)
Cashews

Lunch
Turkey paddie with cheese and salsa (surprisingly good!)

Snack-
red peppers and low fat laughing cow cheese

Dinner-
Camille's cucumber salad with red peppers, avocado, cucumber, red onion, s/p, lemon juice...................mmmmmmmmmmmm so good!!!!!!

milk/caffix and splenda!

so that's it! If I can make it thru tonight, I've made it through the first 2 weeks!

Saturday, May 3, 2008

Okay, so I went to the gym tonight and got on the scale... to my surprise I had only lost 1 more pound. I got the south beach diet book and read up on what might be happening. It talks about how not eating is not good! I have definitely not been eating very much lately and I think that is actually hurting me... not helping. So, remember to be eating 3 meals a day and snacks or else your body doesn't run like a machine! Here's to starting phase 2 on Monday! I'm more motivated than ever. Also, I learned that in the first 2 weeks you loose mostly belly weight, which I didn't really have that much to loose. So from here on out I should loose 1-2 lbs a week. That means only 2 more weeks of phase 2 and then maintenance! How is everyone doing out there? Don't let the weekend get you down!!

Saturday-

Breakfast- 2 eggs

Caffix with milk/splenda

Lunch- Huge salad with bacon, Gorgonzola and olive oil/balsamic vinegar

Dinner- Turkey paddie with cheese, sugar free Popsicle

Caffix/ milk and splenda

Friday, May 2, 2008

dudes...

okay, today was weird because I'm still totally gung-ho (is that how you say that?) but I'm kinda out of food and options. I found myself just not eating very much. It was surprisingly not hard. If you keep yourself busy enough, starvation is quite enjoyable (can you feel the sarcasm!!) No seriously, I had to go to the store tonight and restock because I definitely know I can't keep going to in-n-out burger everyday. Only 2 more days... COME ON LADIES!!!!!!

Breakfast-

didn't really eat, because my sister and I talked on the phone forever!! (good though...needed to happen!)

Lunch-

2 eggs

Snack-
Edemame with chicken salad (I'm pretty sure I should probably stop eating that chicken salad by now...probably not that fresh...indication of my desperation!!)

Snack-
1 handful of popcorn (i know it's not kosher but I'm down to nothing.)

Dinner- 1 c. chicken breast

snack- caffix (postom alternative) with milk and splenda... dude, so good! Carrie, it is a really good alternative to postom. I got some at dreagers and it was not quite 30$. Plus, no shipping =)

Here are some personal shout outs during our last stretch (sorry I haven't been able to call so much, but I feel I'm neglecting my son whilst talking during the day ... )

Camille- I am proud of you for getting thru today. Remember, the first 5 days are the hardest!! You are doing awesome, especially because you have been going out to eat so much more lately!! Remember what we talked about, you are only doing this 2 week thing to get your body to pull it's energy from your fat stores... not your carb stores! Then we reintroduce so you can run faster and longer. LEAN AND MEAN! Remember that hoochie that was out running you... well, you are going to be the blond pony tail that she will post about on her blog! But this time, she will never catch up!@!!!!!!!!!! YEAH!

Leslee- You are lookin' smokin! Tonight Leslee came over to drop off a check (and pick up some steamy Friday night flick... he, he) and lets just say she looked so good. She had on white capri sweats that were kinda tight and she looked so toned and tight!! I can really tell how her running and eating no sugar has totally smoothed and shaped her bod!! Plus she has the hair of a thoroughbred... don't hide it under a bushel leslee!! Anyway, I love you and I'm so proud of you. Don't you think you should fly me to Kauai with you to be your diet coach...duh!?! oh yea... recession!!

Lisa- Lisa, Lisa, Lisa... you came in here like the diet rookie and you have blown us all away. It really says a lot about a person who sticks to their commitments and really goes for it all the way! I know you feel better and you look healthy and strong and stealth! I can't wait to see how far you take this. I'll be right there with you! I love you girl! (sorry if I sound like a bad self-help book right now but I can't help myself =) )

Carrie- I'm glad to see that you are going for more good carbs! I know when breast feeding you don't want to mess around! Way to evaluate and be flexible. Just keep out the sugar like we talked about and feel your body detoxifying. When you are done with the bf go back to phase 1 to get those few lbs you want off! You look awesome and your kid is chubs!! Doesn't that make you feel good to see how healthy they are all from your milk! AMAZING!

ME- keep it up... don't get cocky...find some variety for the last 2 days... lay off the in-n-out...

JANE (Fonda) WOULD BE PROUD!! SUGAR IS POISON

love you guys and keep up the food log posts!! no matter what form of the diet you are on!!

I'm back

Sorry, the baby is teething and miserable. SO SAD! Okay people, lets rally! We are in the home stretch... we can do this. Lisa, there is nothing wrong with snacks, just don't bail altogether.
