New Woman!

Okay, call me crazy but I feel fantastic! I feel like my brain is clearer and I'm not tired all day and I'm not hungry either!! I went to the gym and got on the official scale (drum role please................3.5 lbs!!!! I'm happy with that. It seems just right. not too drastic but still measurable. I'm really proud of Camille for recommitting herself to the hardcore version of the diet. To give an update on how everyone is doing, here is a breakdown of everyones progress

Leslee- doing great with a runners rendition of weight watchers. She has lost 3 lbs I think and feeling good. She hasn't had any sugar and I"m really proud of her. She is kinda the diet veteran here so look to her for advise on everything. She has helped me so much with ideas and motivation. Plus she is a really good hugger!

Lisa Wr- doing great, had a couple of sugar/white flour slip ups but isn't really trying to lose weight but just get toned for her gala on Friday Night! I will post pictures of course! She has a hot rockin' dress that she will look so good in!

Lisa W- Voted most consistent and loyal! Who knew this girl would end up being the most die hard of all. This is her first diet and she hasn't let up for one second! I don't know what her current weight loss is but I know she has lost at least 2 lbs! Keep going Lisa, we only have 5 more days!!

Carrie R- Carrie is still breastfeeding and joins us yesterday to do a south beach variation. I know she is committed and can't wait to see how well she does! She is dead serious about getting healthy and off sugar!

Laura T- I need to check in with you girl. How are things going?

Annie- I think she abandoned us the first day... but I love her as much as ever and she looks amazing so maybe it was meant to be.

Camille- Oh my Camille, she is here to stay. I'm so proud of her for adjusting and recommitting herself! Here's to another week of awesomeness!

Me- I haven't had sugar in 8 days and I feel great! Lost 3.5 lbs and going strong!

What I ate yesterday-

Breakfast- 2 eggs, cashews

Lunch- In'n Out protein style/ Diet Coke

Snack- Jello sugar free with whip topping

Dinner- Grilled mushrooms with peppers, green bean spaghetti (so good, thanks Leslee), Herbal tea

Snack- Warm milk/vanilla

PS I really think the key to success with this diet is keeping your food log everyday. If it is here or on paper keeping track is vital for staying with it!!

Kill me!

Okay, so basically I still want to die! Today was a little bit better but I still felt hungry pretty much all day! I'm not really needing sweets, I'm just always hungry! Maybe I'm not eating enough or something...I keep thinking "10 more days to go!!" I can do anything for 10 days right? I came across this picture of me from my senior prom! Too funny. I'm just looking for more motivation. Not that I expect to look like i did in high school. Hopefully not. My nose was too big for my face and I had no boobs. But now my boobs are saggy! I guess everything is a trade off?! Anyway, here is my food journal for the day... Keep it up ladies! I'm proud of you all...I've official lost 2 pounds!

Breakfast-

3 eggs, scrambled with a little cheese on top

Lunch- Chinese Chicken salad with peppers, almonds

Snack- broccoli (how depressing is that!!?)

Dinner- 1 c. Lentil Soup, 1 c leftover turkey/peppers roast from Tuesday

I'm going to the grocery store tonight to get sugar free jello . I'm dying here! But, no pain no gain!!!!!!!!!

PS my sister had just recently tore her ACL and had surgery 2 days before this picture was taken. She usually isn't this lurpy.

Not Cool...

Goal Weight from behind!! Keep on going!!

I'm sitting here picking at my salmon and edamame and lets just say I WANT TO DIE! So far I've been thinking this diet was going to be a walk in the park until I woke up this morning. After playing basketball for 2 hours last night (what was I thinking?) my body has basically been screaming for carbs and sweets!! This afternoon I was making a peanut butter and honey sandwich and just the smell of the bread made my mouth salivate. Then, when I forgot and licked the knife that had peanut butter and remnants of honey, my body felt like I got a shot of drugs!! It made me realize how dependent I must be on carbs. Oh, how I would love a chocolate croissant or a piece of homemade cornbread with honey butter! Okay...SNAP OUT OF IT! Back to the real world!! I am still on track and hopefully you all are too. Remember, we are delaying gratification! We can do this. I'm just hoping it gets better before it gets worse. Here is my daily menu! Lisa, Lisa and Camille are so far in my good graces with their food logs! Annie and Leslee are in the dog house. Lets make up for that ladies!! Anytime now! Also, Lisa Wa. has lost 1.5 lb. Leslee has lost .5 lbs and I have lost 1 lb!! Not bad for 3 days...

In-n-Out Burger Protein Style

Okay, off to a good start ladies! I'm really proud of you all. I noticed yesterday that Annie, Laura, Leslee and Lisa W. all forgot to post their food diaries!! This is essential for success. Plus it helps us all to get ideas about what to eat as the process gets more difficult. Something Lisa and i discovered is 1/2 c. warm non fat milk with vanilla extract and splenda! It really helped with cravings last night. Just a little sweet, warm treat after dinner. Also, I'm going to get some sugar free hard candy today because that is legal in small amounts. Today I have eaten the following:

breakfast:

2 egg/mushroom and shallot omelet with 1 TB low fat cheese

projected lunch:

lettuce wraps, diet coke

projected dinner:

turkey foil dinners with onions, peppers, mushrooms and carrots

snack: almonds and water!! sounds exciting

ps as far as the Trader Joe's cleanse goes... lets just say I better stay close to the toilet today. =)

Lets have a perfect record today with every body's food journals complete tonight!! We CAN DO IT!!

A case of the Mondays?

Okay people, we are off to a roaring start! I have had a great day so far... believe it or not. I went to Costco this afternoon and spent over 200$ on food that will get me through the first phase. I have never felt so healthy before while in the check out. Usually I'm embarrassed because of the ice cream/circus cookie/twix diet I used to be on. Anyway, I found some awesome stuff at Costco. First of all they have these lettuce wraps in the fridge room that look awesome and low cal. Then I got the rotisserie chicken salad that is outstanding(a little bit of sugar but not enough to count.) I also got the shelled edamame and put it with the chicken salad and it made an awesome snack. I found some nut snack packs and some organic soup with lentil and minestrone that looks really good. I also got some low fat cheese and tons of salmon. I got 2 rotisserie chickens that I'll use in everything. I feel good! Here is my daily food log. I'm looking forward to seeing all of yours by the end of the day. I will call if i don't get it. Side note: please welcome Laura to the group! She is committed and I'm stoked to have her!! Lurpy be gone!!

Mandi Food Log: Day 1

Breakfast: 2 eggs with shallots, turkey bacon, parm cheese, s/p

Lunch: In and Out no carb style burger with grilled onions, diet coke

Snack: 1/2 cup edemame with 1/4 cup chicken salad

Dinner (projected): Salmon fillet with black bean salsa, steamed asparagus

we got this girls!!

No looking back!!

Tomorrow is Day 1 and I'm really excited! Remember, "It's hard to soar with eagles when you are surrounded by turkeys!" I have no idea how that applies but I thought you would think it was funny(ps that was my sister's senior quote.)

Okay, here we go! I am going to the grocery store tomorrow and I've compiled a list of snacks and stuff that will work with the diet. I am calling each one of you tonight to remind you of your commitment. Also, here is a link to the diets official website and more free info on the rules of the 1st two weeks.

snack ideas-
  • celery with natural peanut butter
  • string cheese (low fat)
  • Turkey rolled up with low fat Swiss cheese
  • mozzarella cheese with fresh tomatoes, basil and olive oil with balsamic vinegar and salt and pepper
  • nuts with a diet coke with splenda
  • Camille's cucumber salad- cucumbers, avocados, tomatoes, red peppers, lime juice s/p

Dinner ideas-

  • Foil dinners with ground turkey, carrots (technically not allowed but too bad!), red peppers, onions (onion soup mix)
  • steamed veggies with cheese melted under the broiler
  • omelets or this looks good
  • chicken bean soup (best recipe ever, just take out the chips and add low fat sour cream, salsa and avocado!!)
  • Julia's corn salsa recipe with fish/grilled chicken (canned corn, black beans, tomatoes, avocado tossed with Italian dressing mix and balsamic vinegar...so good!!!!)
  • veggie burgers
  • steamed cauliflower mock mashed potatoes
